ECOWAS Peace Fund Objectives
- 1. To fund ECOWAS peace and security activities that cannot be foretold or foreseen
- 2. To provide capacity for preventive deployment and preparation of an environment conducive to deployment of a regional or international peace support operation personnel
- 3. To enable a rapid and flexible response to threats to peace and security in the West African region
- 4. To create a joint framework for ECOWAS and the international community to respond to peace and security issues in West Africa
- 5.To support the capacity development of Stakeholders involved in promoting peace, conflict prevention, security, good governance, and human rights.
- 6. To supplement the finances of ECOWAS ordinary budget for the activities contained in the Protocol Relating to the Mechanism for Conflict Prevention, Management, Resolution, Peace-keeping and Security of December 1999, the Protocol A/SPI/12/01 of December 2001 on Democracy and Good Governance, Supplementary to the Mechanism, as well as the ECOWAS Conflict Prevention Framework.
